William Gaskins is an Associate in the firm’s Real Estate Capital Markets, Tax, and Corporate practices. William’s practice focuses on structuring a variety of private investment vehicles for real estate developers and managers and private equity managers. William counsels clients on tax issues within deal structures, focusing on real estate investment trusts (REITs), investment partnerships, qualified small business stock (QSBS), qualified opportunity funds under opportunity zone legislation, and other tax-advantaged investment strategies. William also focuses a portion of his practice on federal securities law compliance, including compliance issues arising under the Securities Act of 1933, the Investment Company Act of 1940, and the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.
Additionally, William regularly advises on Delaware entity and contract law. Prior to joining MMM, William served as a law clerk to the Honorable Patricia W. Griffin on the Delaware Court of Chancery. He leverages his experience on the Delaware court to provide greater insight into the governance and administration of alternative business entities.
William received his undergraduate degree from William & Mary and his law degree from the University of Georgia. During law school, he interned with the Honorable William M. Ray II on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and the Honorable Michael L. Robinson on the North Carolina Business Court.
