Washington, D.C. (August 11, 2017) – Robert “Skip” Myers of Morris, Manning & Martin received a standing ovation at an international insurance industry awards ceremony this month. The U.S. Captive Review Awards honored him for “Outstanding Contribution by an Individual.” The honor recognized what the judges called “his significant and sustained contribution to North America’s captive insurance industry.”
“A generous contributor of time and expertise to associations as well as clients, Skip has been a key figure in shaping the legal direction of the captive and risk retention group world for more than three decades,” the judges wrote. “Key pieces of legislation carrying Skip’s fingerprints include the Liability Risk Retention Act of 1986 and the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act in 2002. He is a truly deserving winner of this prestigious award.”
Myers is Managing Partner of MMM’s Washington, D.C. office and co-chairs the firm’s Insurance and Reinsurance Practice. He is also the General Counsel and a board member of the National Risk Retention Association.
The award for Outstanding Contribution by an Individual is only one of several the industry bestowed on Myers over the years. A member of Captive Review’s Hall of Fame, the publication placed him in the Top 5 of its Power 50 List for several years running. The Power 50 recognizes what the publication the most influential figures in the captive insurance industry. The U.S. Captive Service Awards also selected MMM as Onshore Law Firm for Captive Insurance for 2012 and 2015. Myers also received the Vermont Captive Insurance Association’s 2014 Industry Service Award.
