Atlanta (January 9, 2020) – The “Atlanta 500” – a special publication of Atlanta magazine, includes three Morris, Manning & Martin partners. The feature, subtitled “Our City’s Most Powerful Leaders,” profiles 500 luminaries in government and industry.
The MMM partners who were honored are:
- Simon Malko, the firm’s managing partner
- Gerald Pouncey, the chair of the firm and head of the Environmental, Infrastructure & Land Use practice
- John Yates, chair of the Technology practice
All three are featured in the Professionals category of the publication. The Atlanta 500 honored Malko and Pouncey last year as well. In 2018, Atlanta magazine named Yates a Technology Groundbreaker.
Malko became managing partner of the firm, one of Atlanta’s Top 10 largest, in 2019. He emphasizes the importance of delivering excellent legal services while preserving the character of the firm. Giving back to the community is also a high priority.
Pouncey has worked on environmental issues for clients for decades, in 40 of the 50 states. The Best Lawyers in America© named him Atlanta’s Environmental Lawyer of the Year in 2017. The National Law Journal named him an Energy & Environmental Trailblazer in 2016.
Yates, a pioneer in technology law, has helped countless nonprofits and launched or co-launched several tech organizations. Recent honors include the John Imlay Leadership Award from the Technology Executives Roundtable.
Atlanta magazine says it searches for what it calls “relatively unsung visionaries” in business, nonprofit and government roles across the metro area. The editors, who make the final decision, also sought advice from experts and opened the nomination process to the public.
