Kane Studio, a new production studio planned for Albany, Georgia, is moving ahead with its plans to produce films and create jobs despite the pandemic. One reason it can move forward is the availability of economic incentives afforded under the Opportunity Zone incentive, which will lower costs and help improve the area where it’s based. “They’re getting a tax savings and an economic benefit while simultaneously helping out these distressed communities and creating jobs,” says Matt Peurach of our Tax team. “It’s a place where there’s going to be massive job creation in an area that certainly would not have seen it but for the opportunity zone initiative.”
