Washington, D.C. (December 2013) ─ Robert “Skip” Myers, who co-chairs the Insurance and Reinsurance practice at Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP, once again made Captive Review magazine’s “Power 50” list. The publication describes the list as a strong representation of the most powerful public figures in the captive insurance industry.
The magazine says the goal of the Power 50 is to recognize the industry’s most significant professionals who are viewed globally as being proactive, influential, forward-thinking, thought-provoking, innovative and committed. Criteria for selection include the nominees’ influence, history and respect within the industry, relationships with regulatory bodies, innovative approaches and ability to shape the industry. Nominations almost quadrupled since the magazine issued its inaugural list in 2012. Myers came in at #5 on the list for the second year in a row.
In addition to being Managing Partner for MMM’s Washington, D.C. office, Myers is also general counsel of the National Risk Retention Association (NRRA) and several captive insurers. The publication noted that Myers has written, spoken and presented testimony on various captive issues, is a vocal advocate of the Risk Retention Act, has great influence in Washington and is leading the fight in defending the rights of Risk Retention Groups.
Captive Review, published monthly, covers the concerns and interests of the risk management and captive insurance communities. Click here to see the entire Power 50 list, which appears in the magazine’s December issue.
The firm also ranks highly in the magazine’s U.S. Captive Services awards. Last year MMM won first place for Best Onshore Law Firm. Earlier this year the firm earned the “Highly Commended” designation in the same category.
