MMM’s Joseph "Rusty" Ross was recently appointed to the Comprehensive Health Coverage Commission after a long-awaited healthcare proposal was signed by Governor Brian Kemp.
The bill calls for a new commission responsible for advising the governor, legislators, and Georgia’s Medicaid administration on matters concerning healthcare access and quality for the state’s significant uninsured population. In addition to its advisory role, the commission is tasked with evaluating and providing feedback on ongoing healthcare initiatives, including whether Georgia should pursue a private option to expand coverage. The nine-member commission will be required to submit a report by the end of the year and ahead of next year’s session.
