Atlanta (August 5, 2016) – Paul Arne, co-chair of Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP’s, Technology Transactions Practice, is the new Chair of the State Bar of Georgia’s Technology Section. Arne was sworn in July 1 for a one-year term.
The statewide Section focuses on the needs of lawyers who represent clients in technology-related matters – especially the challenges posed when technological innovation conflicts with long-established legal practices. The Section hosts continuing legal education events year-round, including the annual Technology Law Institute (chaired by Arne last year), in which speakers present cutting-edge topics and update changing laws. This year’s event is set for Friday, October 21.
In addition to co-chairing MMM’s Tech Transactions Practice, Arne is a member of the firm’s Data Security, Privacy and Breach Practice and founder and chair of the firm’s Open Source Practice. He also speaks at a number of national and international conferences on topics including open source software, advanced licensing agreements, the social web, and trends in software development. Arne is former managing editor of The Computer Law Association Bulletin, the scholarly publication of the largest international organization of computer law attorneys. He is currently on the Board of Underwriters of the Georgia CIO Leadership Association.
MMM is among the nation’s leading law firms for technology companies. It prides itself on assessing a company’s business needs and objectives, then drawing upon its full resources to create a multidisciplinary team of lawyers providing the knowledge and resources that clients need to succeed.
