Technology attorney Paul Arne will speak at the sold out SoCon09 conference this weekend. SoCon09, which organizers describe as the premiere social media “un-conference” in the South, will attract people from all over the region with an interest in social media. Social media are primarily Internet-based tools that integrate technology, telecommunications and social interaction. They can include a number of applications such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and many others, and are exploding in popularity.
Mr. Arne, who heads the Web 2.0 Group and co-chairs the Technology Transactions Group at Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP, will host a breakout session on Privacy and Legal Rights. His presentation will cover issues such as privacy concerns and legal issues related to online networking.
“In Search of the Southeast’s Social Media Niche” is the theme of this year’s event, which includes speakers on a number of topics, including social media’s use in small business, raising capital, marketing and public relations. Other topics include balancing your personal and professional images online, and pursuing best practices. The event will be held February 6 and 7 on the campus of Kennesaw State University. For more information, visit www.socon09.com.
Mr. Arne was among the first to recognize the growing importance of social media in the business world, and the often perplexing legal issues the new area raises. A member of the Board of Directors of the Enterprise 2.0 society of the Technology Association of Georgia, he is a frequent speaker and writer on Web 2.0 legal topics.
