Atlanta (January 28, 2021) – The Corporate Equality Index (CEI) – an important benchmarking tool for businesses in the evolving field of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer equality in the workplace – bestowed a 100% ranking on Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP. This is the fourth year in a row MMM earned the highest-possible ranking, which carries the designation of being a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.
“We applaud the HRC for the roadmap it provides businesses that value equality,” said MMM Managing Partner Simon Malko. “We also appreciate all of the work the firm’s Diversity Committee leaders put in to help us achieve this milestone.”
The Human Rights Campaign is committed to keeping the criteria for the CEI tough, fair and transparent by identifying best practices that improve the experiences of LGBTQ employees of participating businesses. The criteria for the ranking include workforce protections, inclusive benefits, supporting an inclusive culture and corporate social responsibility, and responsible citizenship.
“Our recognition by the HRC is a testament to the firm’s commitment to being a positive force for change in the workplace and respecting and protecting the individual rights of all employees,” said MMM Partner Douglas Selph. The firm is in good company; a record-breaking 767 businesses and law firms earned top rankings this year. The HRC says figures showed improvement across all categories, adding that equality is “good business” that helps recruitment, retention, engagement and the bottom line. The organization also notes that progress means being constantly open to positive change.
“Diversity and inclusion policies and practices advanced through tools such as the CEI are critical, but meaningful change demands more,” added Alphonso Davis, President of the HRC Foundation. “It requires breathing life into these policies and practices in real and tangible ways.”
