Atlanta (February 18, 2022) - Opportunity Zone magazine has named its Top 25 attorneys and once again MMM’s Matt Peurach, is on the list. Peurach has made the list each year since 2019.
Peurach founded and chairs MMM’s Opportunity Zone practice, which was one of the first in the nation. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 created the program to encourage investment in distressed areas by allowing people who invest in those areas to defer, reduce or even eliminate capital gains over time.
He is also a partner in the firm’s Corporate, Investment Funds, Real Estate Capital Markets and Tax practices. He and his group have closed more than 100 deals helping clients raise nearly $1 billion in capital.
Much of his overall practice focuses on structuring commercial real estate transactions, negotiating and drafting partnership agreements and LLC agreements documenting equity investments in real estate, as well as structuring private equity funds and other joint venture-related entities predominately focused on real estate investments. He also regularly advises clients on tax issues associated with real estate and other corporate transactions.
Previous honors include being named a National Law Journal South Trailblazer. The Trailblazers program honors attorneys who have moved the needle in the practice of law. He also serves on the Institute for Portfolio Alternatives Rising Leaders Council, which recognizes emerging leaders by providing a unique opportunity to serve the alternative investment industry.
