ATLANTA – November 29, 2024 – MMM Partner and Co-Chair John Yates was featured in GeorgiaTrend’s “Catching Up With…” interview series, where he discussed his career in technology law and the future technology trends in Georgia.
John Yates has been a part of the Georgia tech scene for over 40 years, since the advent of the PC in 1981. When asked about the future of technology in the State, John commented, “One area we’re thinking a lot about is generative AI. Georgia Tech produces more engineers in the AI area than any other university in the US. We have a unique combination of tech companies and Fortune 500 companies, all of which are interested in figuring out how to use AI. And we have a diverse community that is also unique in thinking about how AI comes together. If we could take our existing assets and build on them … by becoming the thought-leader city in the [nation] or in the world in generative AI, that puts us in a unique posture.”
John launched Morris, Manning & Martin’s Corporate Technology practice 40+ years ago and has practiced exclusively in this area since 1981. He co-founded the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), serves as chair of the Downtown Atlanta Rotary Club, is past chair of the Woodruff Arts Center’s Corporate Campaign, and is co-chair of the 2025 Annual Gala at Zoo Atlanta.
