Washington D.C. (July 30, 2021) - Legal publication Law360 reports that The Biden Administration has published several months-old findings on potential national security threats possibly posed by imports. Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 lets the president restrict imports that threaten U.S. security interests. Former President Trump opened several investigations and imposed levies on steel and aluminum. The results of investigations of two products — vanadium and transformers — were unknown until they were recently made public. In one case, the agency found that while the vanadium used in jet engines, missiles and buildings was critical to U.S. security, it did not view the reliance on imported vanadium to be a threat.
