Atlanta (June 25, 2020) – Two Morris, Manning & Martin partners received honors in the Georgia Legal Awards. Hosted by the Daily Report newspaper, the awards honor the top attorneys in a number of categories.
The winners from MMM, named in an online video broadcast on June 24, include:
- David Calhoun in the Most Effective Deal Makers category
- Bess Hinson in the On the Rise category
Calhoun chairs the firm’s Private Equity and Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. He is also in the firm’s Securities Practice. He has been active in mergers and acquisitions for public and private companies, including acting as counsel in transactions ranging in size from less than $100,000 to over $1 billion. In announcing the award, Daily Report editor Jonathan Ringel noted that deal-makers get repeat business for how they achieve their clients’ goals so that both sides sign on the dotted lines, adding that Calhoun closed more than 20 M&A transactions since the beginning of 2019.
Bess Hinson, who chairs the firm’s Cybersecurity & Privacy group, was named to the 2020 “On the Rise” Class of 2020. The class honors the most promising lawyers from across the state who are under age 40. The criteria include being innovators who develop unique practice niches, amass robust books of business, demonstrating strong leadership qualities and committing themselves to pro bono, charitable and professional volunteer work. In addition to leading MMM’s fast-growing Cybersecurity & Privacy Practice, Hinson also founded Atlanta Women in Cybersecurity Roundtable.
