MMM’s Doug Hance was recently quoted in a Law360 article outlining the significant areas of litigation and regulation to watch in 2024. The article focused on state laws regarding consumer rights to repair products, changes in rules governing multidistrict litigation (MDL)), social media legislation, and regulations on PFAS.
Hance commented on the recent MDL rule change that aims to make MDL more fair and efficient. Implemented by the Judicial Conference’s Committee on Civil Rules, the rule mandates early information exchange among parties, aiming to mitigate issues arising from meritless claims in product liability and mass tort MDL cases. Hance highlighted the significance of this change, saying, “It’s a positive step and a needed law to address MDLs, which now take up a huge percentage of the federal caseload.”
